Boring!

My goodness! There really hasn't been anything interesting going on in my life right now! Well.. maybe you guys would find it interesting... I'm sure mom and dad told most of you that i have a boyfriend now, and they are right, i do have a boyfriend! YAY!

His name is Aaron, he is a member of the church, he hasn't gone on a mission yet, but he will! He is exactly 5 months older than me! He is probably about as tall as Ben, so the poor guy has to bend down if the wants to hug me. I met some of his family last friday, his mom (who is actually shorter than me! so his dad must be really tall!), his cool little sister. She is... i think 17.. she is really cool though, she likes to cook, but she loves baking pastries, so props to her! She has the patience for it, i surely don't! His Aunt and Uncle, and their two kids. They were nice enough to wait to eat dinner so that i could join them. i didn't get to their place until 8:00 ish. we spent the whole night teasing each other and telling stories. They would ask me a few questions now and then to try to bring me into the conversation, which i appreciated, but they let me just listen to them and enjoy the conversation, which i really appreciated! I don't really have any wit, so all my jokes are bad! So i'm glad i didn't feel like i had to joke with them because they would have gotten some really bad jokes!

But what i have done is read a couple books!! so here starts the reviews!!

Brisingr
By Christopher Paolini

I read the first two so i could remember what happened in this one. Honestly this one was not very fun for me to get through. there was a lot of details, and things that i don't think were really important to the story, like there was this one part with a random hummingbird. and i could not figure out if the humming bird was important to the story. i don't think it was. i liked all the important stuff, and i wanted the story to move further on, but after i read this one, i felt like we could have skipped a good portion of the middle. i still enjoyed reading it though. it's good for anyone who likes fantasy, there is a little bit of descriptions of gross things like blood and battles and such. i like these books because i like dragons, and a little magic. But the dragons are the best! Dragons rock!!

Night
By Elie Wiesel

Its a book about his experiences in concentration camps. you know, during the holocaust. Honestly i find these stories completely interesting! It fascinates me to read or hear about how people can really hate each other. How a group of people can take control and cause something like this to happen. It also amazes me how people can be caught up in the middle and have no idea how to react, like all the soldiers that were forced to do all those horrible things. I don't believe that the whole German army all thought that they needed to get rid of the "lesser" people. Fear can make almost anyone do anything to survive. But i do believe that there were a good number of people who wanted to get rid of the "bad" people.

But i do think it's interesting to see how the jews viewed this happenings on a religious level. Though out this book Wiesel talks about how he was questioning God, and asking how could He be all powerful and let these bad things happen. But i was reminded of the story in the Book of Mormon - Alma 14 (8-11)
8 And they brought their wives and children together, and whosoever believed or had been taught to believe in the word of God they caused that they should be acast into the fire; and they also brought forth their records which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might be bburned and destroyed by fire.
9 And it came to pass that they took Alma and Amulek, and carried them forth to the place of amartyrdom, that they might witness the destruction of those who were consumed by fire.
10 And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the apower of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.
11 But Alma said unto him: The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in aglory; and he doth suffer that they may do this thing, or that the people may do this thing unto them, according to the hardness of their hearts, that the bjudgments which he shall exercise upon them in his wrath may be just; and the cblood of the dinnocent shall stand as a witness against them, yea, and cry mightily against them at the last day.

WARNING!! SOAPBOX AHEAD!!!

It just amazes me how quickly people will yell at Heavenly Father for not making their lives comfortable, and easy. We see our lives as an opportunity to better ourselves, to have experiences that we wouldn't be able to have without a body. I see our lives as a blessing no matter how hard it may become. I don't regret the decisions i have made because those decisions have given me experience, and have helped me become who i am. I may not like all the things about me, but i am willing to work on those and try to change them. People of other faiths, even the christian ones, don't see their lives like that. they are always bordering on uncertainty. the possibility that they could be wrong, or the possibility that we may just be here, no reason at all. I do not understand why people just accept that when they die that is it. what is the purpose of life if that is all? i think that if that is all there is to life, then we would have no desire to help each other. we would all be doing bad things, hurting each other, and not answering to anyone. I believe that because we had a life before we were born we try to do good to each other. We haven't been parted from all knowledge we had before. Just because the vail has made us forget, doesn't mean we know something is true. Everyone deep down knows that we have a Heavenly Father, and we will be able to return to him if we so choose. Some people just have to be reminded of that. And if they choose not to listen, that is their decision. It doesn't mean that you have failed. Beyond that point it does get a little more complicated for us to understand how Heavenly Father will judge, so i'll leave it at that!

Anyway, this is a good book for anyone to read, if they wish to read about some depressing stuff. and it's a quick read too! only took me a few days!

that's fun about the boyfriend thing!

and i still haven't read those dragon book things. it'd just be on the bottom of the stack i already have going.

and i've really been interested in the holocaust thing lately because it's so close to losing everyone who was there when it happened (if that made any sense) and it's important to remember what happened.

also did you see the quote heather put on facebook about (something like) lazy people expect that the world owes them something? that's how i feel about God too, people just expect that God somehow owes them something and they don't get off their butts and do something for themselves!

that's all.

Do you remember Bro. Miter from Illinois? His parents were holocaust survivors. I tried to point them out to you at church so you'd remember them.
