This is my plate for the National High School Chef of the Year, hosted by Johnson and Wales!
The theme was Healthy Heritage. And of course, i did Danish as the heritage, because you could have chosen anything...
i made smorrebrod, which is an open face sandwich, the danes specialty. the Danish LOVE their potatoes, just ask my friend line (it's pronounced leena) she is an exchange student straight from denmark! an i needed something veggie, something bright, so i took the idea from work and just steamed the veggies.
i used a hand held zester and peeled the skin off of the zucchini and used it as a garnish. everyone who was around after school in the classroom was amazed at how good it looked, it looks even better in person! i created all this by just a few examples of recipes and i just came up with it! they were even more amazed by how good it tasted. which i was just thinking, you had doubt?? jeeze! ;) anyway i hope you all are doing well, and enjoying the time with mom and dad around... i'm just very excited because i don't have school on monday, and the rest of the week i only have to be at school for less than 4 hours!! yay! and on wednesday a few friends and i are going to go prom dress shopping, the only bad thing about that, is that if i win the Best Teen Chef for colorado, then i would be flown down to las vegas and the competition would take place on prom, and i actually want to go to this dance. so we will see how that works out! soon it'll be spring break and then about a 2 months i'll be an official grizzly alumini! yay!
