What?

This story reminds me of the good samaratin story.. but with a more sad ending.
A person who is called a holidaymaker died after falling down some steps getting off an airplane. the article said that she was taken care of badly and was left on the ground bleeding for a good while before an ambulance came and got her, and that the ambulance people didn't take care of her well there either. but this next part is what made me go 'wait... what?'

"Holiday firm Thomson has changed its procedures in the aftermath of the tragedy, after admitting there was a confusing 'grey area' of responsibility on stairs between cabin crew and ground staff.

Witness Alison Pike told investigators she was just behind Mrs Mellon when the pensioner lost her footing on the seventh step and slipped.

Graham Corbett, another passenger on the plane, said he saw Mrs Mellon stumble on the bottom step, twist and fall, her head hitting the concrete 'like a boxer'.
The holiday company's report, drawn from ground crew accounts, was that Mrs Mellon had fallen from no higher than the third step."

what gets me is that if i see someone bleeding on the ground unconcious, i would jump right in there and help out! it shouldn't be one person's responsibility! it should be everyones! if we can't help eachother out in our daily lives there is no way we can help out the whole world and solve all the problems like everyone is trying to do. especially when they see someone in need and passes them up like that! my goodness!

Uh.... Yeah, i think that's kinda important!

so I guess Obama doesn't want his birth certificate out for some reason... Huh... Yeah I think that is pretty important. Of course there are going to be consiracy theories and all, but why is Obama being excused for all these things? It's okay, all this stuff is outdated, and you don't know anybetter so shut up and sit down!
Really?

Amazing thing!

So today in my english class we were talking about different types of definition arguements, and my teacher decided that Universal Healthcare was a great topic to use as an example. Being the typical teacher that most professors are he has a more liberal viewpoint of everything. He showed us a clip from YouTube about some antidepressant drugs that actually are being proven that they are more harmful to you than helpful. Like if you go on the drug, it is very addicting, and won't help forever, probably due to the fact that your body will change when you take drugs. anyway, they interviewed a woman who tried for 8 years to get off the drug in lots of different ways, but none of them ever helped.
they then talked about how there are studies proving that the drug will cause you to be more suicidal, depressed and violent. the clip was from fox news and my teacher just loves to try to put down the network. so he called this type of video more use of scare tactics than informing, which can be seen since it was only a 3 minute clip. all networks will use the amount of time they can get and since they only had so much time to fit in all this, they had to shove as much as they can into it. Anyway when we took a break in class some of us started talking about the debate on universal healthcare, and one person asked why it was so bad. i said that it doesn't work for all countries, like canada, whose people spend so much time on the waiting list that by the time they get to the doctors or the bed they are beyond help. i mean most of them will come down here for help if they need it.
one of the guys in the class spoke up and asked me if i had ever lived in a country that had universal health care, and no i haven't. he then told me of his dad and how he fell off the roof or something and got hurt bad, spent 2 weeks in the hospital and had to pay nothing for it. he said that the only thing he doesn't like about America is that the healthcare is so expensive. I said that it may work for other countries, but because of so many things here, it would not work. i didn't say this next part. Maybe if each state figured their own way of taking care of healthcare, maybe it would work, but forcing a whole country to do it at huge prices is crazy. not only would we be giving to people who aren't working at all and need to pick up the slack and find a job and put some effort into their own lives, or illeagle aliens who shouldn't even be here.
anyway after that last part the conversation died down real quick. after class i went out in the hall and sat down to wait for my friend Maria to get there since her next class was in the classroom i was just in, and that same guy came and apologized for jumping on me for that. We agreed that the people higher up in the government weren't looking out for the people they are supposed to be serving. we also agreed that it is okay to have your own opinion and it's okay to express it. Wow! i never would have expected a fellow student to come to me and apologizing for jumping on me for what i was saying! you know, there are some good people out there who may disagree with me, but we don't need to hate each other for having a different opinion!

Injuries!

Since Dianna can put up pictures of her injuries, I'm going to put up the ones i have of my most recent injury! :)

The other day, lets see.... it was tuesday night, at work i was getting some frozen sugar snap peas to cook in the cafe. there is a dining room and the cafe, the dining room is where i started working as a waitress, but then moved over to the cafe for more hours and a better pay so i could pay for school. anyway i was walking by this wall toward the cafe door.

right across from this wall is our ice machine, and when all the high schoolers come to work, they get these things called carafes and they go to the ice machine to fill them up, they are supposed to keep the area ice free and squeegie the floor when they are done so no one slips and falls. but they have taken to just putting up a wet floor sign up and leaving all the ice on the floor and whatnot. so one of the guys i work with, who isn't a high schooler, he is actually getting ready to leave in march for his mission, was rolling a cart with food to the ice machine to ice it all down when i thought 'hey! i could just put this heavy box of peas on the cart and have him roll it to the cafe!' but before i could do that he knocked down the wet floor sign, i stepped on it by accident and slid. i caught myself though and took another step, unfortunately onto the sign again and fell into the wall. What you see on the picture is some papers of announcements and rules and such. but the papers aren't just stapled onto the board, they are held in by some plastic things that aren't extremely thick, but just enough so that as i scraped my knuckles onto the wall 3 of them got cut. my pointer finger and my ring finger on my right hand got the worst cuts and the middle finger only got a little scrape.
it hurt like crazy! i threw the box onto the cart and looked at my hand. the cuts were pretty deep for cutting it on plastic. so i rushed to a sink and grabbed some paper towels and put pressure on my fingers like you are supposed to and asked one of the other chefs to get me some bandages and finger cots. the finger cots roll onto your finger to cover up the bandage so it won't fall into the food. and they are bright blue, not sure why, but maybe just to let everyone know you cut your fingers! :) it stung for the whole night while i was working. the poor guy who knocked over the sign felt so bad about it because i got into a really bad mood the rest of the night and he kept apologizing for it. I said it was okay, that it wasn't his fault. You know you got some good guys in the church because if it was any of the other guys i work with they wouldn't have apologized.
Anyway after the first rush in the cafe ended more of the chefs and managers wanted to know what happened so i just pointed to the wall and said the plastic holders cut me. we laughed at it because i'm always the one to find the most weird things to cut myself on, like the cash register. they said that what happened was a first, and i'm not sure if they are going to reconsider the signs but at least they are aware that people like me will find some way to cut themselves!

here is a picture of my hand after we closed the cafe and before i put on new and better bandages and a couple of close ups if you don't want to see don't scroll down! :)

So Early!

My goodness it is really early! well it feels like it because i'm at the campus library right now and i've been here since 6:30. so it's kinda early for me. I guess I will have a slightly easier time adjusting since i went through early morning seminary and all. But i am still yawning like crazy and i think i'm going to fall asleep in my math class!
I am ewxcited for this semester though because i think i am doing good stuff, like taking classes and being up this early. Also my friend Maria and I are going to be spending some time working out and exercising. which is great for me because i really need to exercise! the funny thing is that i have lost a little bit of weight without exercising at all, so i think if i do it'll be that much better. plus i can get a little stronger and have an easier time at work with lifting heavy things. Some of my co-workers already call me muscles. Like for instance i was in the walk-in and i was lifting a case of iceberg lettuce, which contains about 30 or more heads of lettuce, and it is always placed in the stupidist spot right in the corner next to a rack so you have to lift the case above the romaine cases. anyway, i was picking it up and lifting it to a cart and i was kind of struggling with it. the funny part is that there were 4 other guys in there and they were just kind of standing around and watching. I didn't ask for help because i could do it, but just getting it above the romaine is hard. and once i did it they were like 'go get 'im muscles!' and 'why didn't you ask for help? i could have helped you!'
I'm thinking really? couldn't you see that i was kind of stuggling there? but sometimes i like to challenge myself like that just to work my muscles a little bit.
Anyway so i'm especially excited to be exercising a little bit and getting more into it! that's always been a challenge for me, being motivated enough to go and work out. now i have a place and a buddy to go with me so we can make fun of each other. i was always worried about what people were thinking of me in gym classes and such, but lately i feel more like i don't really care. and it helps when you have a buddy that you can joke with about stuff like that and break the tension. All i really needed was someone to drag me to the gym and motivate me. We both motivate each other so it works out for both of us.
lets see, what else can i talk about to waist some more time....
i saw this guy today in a dog suit. i'm not sure why he was walking around with a dog suit but i thought it was interesting!
oh! i know what i can do! i can read scriptures on the internet!! i can do that! our bishop has challenged us to read the BOM before August because the ward is sending the youth to Martin's cove for their ward youth conference, i wish i was going because when i went in the other stake it was so much fun! and i think it would be more fun with just the ward because then you know people a little more. the year that me and ben went was the year we moved in i think so we didn't really know anyone and i wasn't as outgoing as i am now. i'm still not really outgoing but i'm working on that a little bit.
anyway, that's what i am going to do now! thanks for reading my efforts to get time moving faster! :)

don't read unless you have a good amount of time! it's huge!! :)

Not much has been happening, i guess i could tell you a bunch of stuff though! :)
For thanksgiving i went to Arizona to visit Aaron and his family. They were even nice enough to let me stay in their guest bedroom! I got to sit around and watch movies most of the time which i really enjoyed since i really needed a break from the same routine of sleep school work. Me and Aaron went to the air museum they have down in Tuscon, and usually when i go to these types of things i get bored really quick and don't enjoy myself, but this time it was a little different. I had fun watching Aaron get all excited about the different planes and tell me things about them. and i even found a hole in one that was shot and went to the other side and found it's exit point! Some of the planes were interesting and others funny!

Entry hole

Exit hole

exit and entry hole together! :) you can figure it out! :)

I got to help out their family set up for christmas, and my goodness the amount of decorations were amazing! there were tons of boxes and so much i kinda found it overwhelming a bit, but once everything was put in their spot i found it was really nice and it did feel like christmas. The only problem i found was that their family was very concerned about how things were put out, they have to be just so. and a lot of bickering went on. i'm thinking it's nice to have all that, but i could do without it. just put the stuff wherever and call it good! :) Sister Cope gave me my own window sill to place specific decorations in specific spots and i just put them down and called it good. she came in a looked at it and almost got teary eyed! :) guess she didn't have to change anything about that! :)

This is some i helped set up!

This is the window sill i set up!

I met some more of Aaron's family, Auntie Ellen and Uncle George. They were really nice and even though they aren't members they were willing to talk with Sis Cope about church related things and they were completely understanding and supportive of their sister! :) i thought that was very cool! I had met other relatives of Aaron's when he was living up here in Colorado, another aunt and uncle who live in Castle Rock. They were just as fun!

Their dog bungee really didn't like me. I think he was abused when he was younger and so he is very cautious around people he doesn't know. So it's a good thing that they adopted him! poor guy! i was left at their home one day for a few hours so i could do a little homework, i worked on it for a little while and gave up, and as soon as they all left he started to bark at me. So i got one of his favorite treats and gave it to him. he left me alone the rest of the day but watched me like a hawk! :)

Their dog bungee and Aaron, who doesn't really like his picture taken, but i did it anyway!

They set up their thanksgiving dinner super fancy! 3 plates, 2 cups, silverware, napkins, placemates, and really cute tiny salts and peppers for each place. it was fun to see how another family celebrates thanksgiving! :)

Supposedly Aaron will be turning in his mission papers this month, which i'm going yay at! he is going to turn 20 next week and i'm totally thinking wow! i'm going to be 20 this year! when i was little i never really thought i was ever going to get to 20, i thought i was going to stay little for the rest of my life! :)

For school i passed both of my classes, english was a B and Math was an A. i only got credit for my english class though since my math class was considered a high school class. i was unhappy when they put in that class since i have already taken it high school, but i figured i could do with a refresher! next semester i'm taking another english and math class and my schedule is going to be crazy! i have to get up extra early, get to the bus station at 6 in the morning and my first class is at 7. but i'm excited though! i really do like the mornings, but i just never really give myself enough time to get some sleep. so now i'm going to work on good sleeping habits and times. and i only have to go to campus 2 times a week now! last semester i had to go down there 4 times a week and sometimes my class would be cancelled when i got there.

I am also starting to give Flute lessons to this really nice little girl in our ward, and the parents are going to pay me double an hour that i usually get at work which totally surprised me! it's only a couple of lessons during the week in the morning, but i'm excited because this will be a great learning experience and i'll be able to pick up my flute again! now i just have to reteach myself some of the notes like the really high ones like D and E! :)

Lets see, work is going well. they seem to really appreciate me a little more ever since i went on my thanksgiving vacation. My supervisor calls me her right arm and we get along great! I worked the past 2 holidays and got double pay so i'm going to have a lot of money in my savings account for school and maybe a few fun things here and there! :)

That's pretty much it! :) thanks for reading!! :)

dragon pic

I was watching ben work on his coloring picture for one of his projects and it looked like fun, so he gave me his old tablet and pen so i could try it out! i wanted to color a fairy, but all the pictures of fairys have them not clothed completely, which is important to me. So i decided to go with a dragon instead! You like?
